This is an incorrect tag; “X Factor Finalists” should be proceeded by a year. This is to reflect the charity singles which will be released annually by each series’ finalists. (Simon Cowell has said the charity single release will now be an annual event) Series 5 finalists recorded the single ‘Hero’ (originally by Mariah Carey.) The single was released to raise money for Help For Heroes, a charity which helps provide support for wounded servicemen and women, and went straight to #1 and to date has sold over 770,000 copies and raised over £1 million pounds. Series 6 finalists performed together on the first weeks result show. They released a cover of Michael Jackson’s You Are Not Alone on the 16th of November 2009, once again for charity. Like the previous year’s song, it went straight to #1.
