Born on November 25, 1950, North Carolina, U.S.A. She has been a versatile vocalist to this day, singing on many R&B, Disco, Pop, and House productions. Her aunt Barbara Roy inspired Jocelyn to spread her musical wings. She began her career in the 1970s as a studio singer for many groups and artists like Musique, Inner Life, Bad Girls, The Salsoul Orchestra, Disco Tex & His Sex-O-Lettes, Van McCoy, Evelyn King, Gloria Gaynor, Phyllis Hyman, Vicki Sue Robinson, Dazzle, Revanche, Melba Moore, Roberta Flack, Cerrone, Chic and Change. In 1984, she started her solo career gaining great success with the single "Somebody Else's Guy," which reached #2 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart (#75 on the Hot 100). In 1985-87 she worked with Culture Club and toured with them. In 1990, some of her records started to be sampled by House and Rap producers. Among them: Snap! (who sampled her vocals from "Love's Gonna Get You"). Since then, her contribution to the world of dance music has been well recognized, working with countless artists of the genre, such as Todd Terry, Martha Wash, Kym Mazelle, Jamestown, Cassius, Right Said Fred, DJ BoBo and many, many others. The Queen of Clubland. She began her career as a backing vocalist for Sylvester. Later on, she was part of Two Tons O' Fun and later The Weather Girls before embarking on a solo career. In 1990, Italian act Black Box released a record called "Ride On Time" which sampled the vocals of Loleatta Holloway. After the planetary success of the song, Holloway was asked to sing on the follow up single (and eventual album). At that time, Martha did some demo's at the studio, and the producers used her voice for the rest of the album. She was never credited nor paid for her work, thus it was actually stolen material. Later on Martha went to court, got her name credited on the 12" releases and as an outcome got her own album from the record company. At the same period where the Milli Vanilli scandal was uncovered, Black Box also confessed to using a model in their videos, lipsyncing the vocals of Martha Wash. Going public on the issue, she gained a lot of support and recognition. C + C Music Factory even featured Wash in the now classic 'Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)'. After a solo album in 1993, Martha Wash came back in the spotlight with Jocelyn Brown on Todd Terry's cover of Musique's 'Keep On Jumpin'. In 2005, she released her first single in more than five years "You Lift Me Up", this time on her own label Purple Rose Records. In 2013, she released her second Something Good.

Born 18th April 1967 in Brooklyn, New York, pioneering American house producer & DJ, Todd Terry is one of the producers who helped to define New York's house music during the 1980s. Terry's productions can be described as a varied collection of samples blending the sounds of classic disco, the more introspective Chicago sound pioneered earlier in the decade, plus plenty of hip-hop attitude and sampling piracy. Much of Todd Terry's early work in the late 1980s is considered a milestone in the development of both progressive and modern deep house. Todd Terry has been responsible for releasing two of the most respected crossover remixes of the house era: "I'll House You" by the Jungle Brothers and "Missing" by Everything But The Girl by the mid 1990s. Among his fans, Todd Terry is known as 'Todd the God', 'God Terry', 'Todd Godrry', 'Godd Gerry' (or, occasionally, simply 'God', because he might be a Five Percenter, but this is unconfirmed). Todd's tracks "Something Goin' On" and "Keep on Jumpin'" were both UK Top 10 hits as well as US Hot Dance Music/Club Play #1s, with the vocals provided by Jocelyn Brown and Martha Wash. Freestyle diva Shannon was the featured vocalist on the Top 20 hit "It's Over Love" in 1997. In 1999, Todd Terry released "Resolutions", successfully embracing the then-still avant-garde drum 'n' bass aesthetics. Terry has used several aliases such as Swan Lake, Orange Lemon, Royal House, Black Riot, CLS, Masters At Work (although he later gave this moniker to Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez & Louie Vega in 1990), Dred Stock, House Of Gypsies, Lime Life, Hardhouse and the Gypsymen. Todd Terry became one of the best-paid DJs in both Europe and the United States. He normally performs on four turntables, mostly playing his own tracks. Used to be managed by Gary Salzman.
