Rock Andaluz quartet Ecos del Rocio have enjoyed a long lasting career carving out a niche for flamenco-inspired music in the pop world. Formed in the 1980's, Ecos del Rocio's members (Juan Manuel, Paco, Jesús and Miguel) were sons of farmers in Rota, Cadíz. Thanks to the support of the Fundacíon Alcalde Zoilo Ruis-Mateos, the fledgling group was able to form a strong foundation and begin recording early. Their first LP was released in 1984, initiating a discography that would come to include more than a dozen titles. International touring and a strong radio presence throughout their better than two decades of productivity established Ecos del Rocio as one of the most influential (albeit not most popular) rumba fusion groups of the 80's and 90's. Their work bringing Spanish traditions into modern day music laid ground work for Ecos' modern day label mates (Ediciones Senador) El Barrio, Hugo and Arcangel. After better than 20 years of contributions, Ecos del Rocio demonstrated their staying power with the 2007 release 25 Besos para Ti. Not just popular amongst the group's loyal fan base, the album held at #25 on Spanish pop charts for a number of weeks.
